5 Ways to Beat the New Year Blues

Oh my don’t you think Christmas flies by faster and faster each year? All the planning, preparation, wrapping and cooking; then before you know it, it’s gone. You are left sitting in your pyjamas on Boxing Day morning surrounded by bags of wrapping paper and enough leftovers to see you through to the end of January. If you are like me post-Christmas can leave you a little flat! So here are my top tips for picking yourself up in the New Year.

Top Tips for Beating New Year Blues

  • Make a pledge to get active – yeh I know it’s a cliché and that January sees an influx of gym memberships (that are never used after February) But you don’t have to join the gym to get fit. Just a promise to take the dog out more often, or to walk to school on those cold bright mornings. Keep your goal achievable – you don’t need to set yourself up to fail!

  • Clean out your wardrobe. Come on admit you are never going to wear that dress ever again. And those shoes? What were you thinking. Be ruthless – if you haven’t worn  it in 6 months get rid of it. Better still bundle the best bits together and get yourself on eBay. With all that extra cash you can hit the sales, buying things you actually want to wear!

  • Book a holiday – I was doing this whilst cooking Christmas dinner! It doesn’t have to be the holiday of a life time (unless you got a Christmas bonus in which case go for it!) But just a weekend away later in the year will give you something to look forward too. Loads of places take a deposit these days so if you are strapped for cash you can book now and pay a little later in the year when your finances have recovered from Christmas.

  • Set a goal – what do you really want to do this year? Sky dive, feed a meerkat or something more simple like read a book or spend more time with family. Decide what 2017 is going to mean for you and set yourself a target. It doesn’t have to be life changing – but it does us good to have something to work towards. Pudding, for example, has decided that she is going to curb TV use at HQ by chewing the buttons off the remote. You have to have goals people!

  • Appreciate what you have. It’s not always about striving towards the next thing. Sometimes it’s learning to enjoy what’s around you. Taking the time to really make the most of friends and family. Finding joy in the little things, is the beginning of true of happiness. So whilst the New Year is a time to look forward and plan, it’s also a time to reflect.

So there you go a few simple ideas to banish those New Year Blues. Have you got any others you would like to share?

Beautiful Organic Baby Clothes From Babies with Love

Here at Pudding HQ we love getting our hands on the latest gorgeous organic baby clothes. It was with great pleasure then that we agreed to review the beautiful new range launched at From Babies with Love. Just like us From Babies with Love think that super soft organic cotton is the way forward for dressing your precious little bundles. But what I love about From Babies with Love is that every purchase you make helps support abandoned children through a donation to SOS Children. Gorgeous, super soft clothes and support for a worthy cause, how can you not fall for From Babies with Love?

We were sent a simply printed romper suit and matching hat for Pudding to try. I was immediately struck by the quality of the cotton. It really is super soft, I almost wish they did this in an adult size! Unfortunately my model has been less than gorgeous these last two weeks. But you can catch her in her romper over on Instagram later this week.

The French Grey Little Kisses romper was generously sized. Our little Pud is on the petite size, so the 6-12 month romper has plenty of space for her. This beautiful starry romper is the perfect mix of class and sophistication for this time of year. Whilst being both comfortable against the skin and giving back to others less fortunate. A festive purchase that really takes on board the meaning of Christmas.

The whole Autumn/Winter collection is fabulous, From Babies with Love have produced some exquisite items. And knowing how cosy the romper is that we have reviewed, I would have no hesitation in recommending these:

I think that From Babies with Love is not only producing lovely soft, organic baby clothes but is also bringing a little bit of extra love to those babies who are not as lucky. By supporting From Babies with Love we can as parents open our arms out to little ones, who through know fault of their own, need our love and support.

Fallen in love with From Babies with Love? Why not check them out on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Babycoo – We Love You!

So lovely readers a few weeks ago I did a little post on my favourite boutiques discovered in June. Well imagine my surprise and delight when Babycoo contacted me to ask if I fancied reviewing some of their clothes. Of course the answer to this request was a very resounding yes! Having coveted several items from their site I was over the moon.

Who are Babycoo?

Babycoo were founded in 2014 by parents Richard & Kathryn who wanted to offer other parents like themselves baby clothes that were ethically sourced and made from organic material. The idea being that the clothes they were dressing their baby in had not caused harm to any one else in the process of being made. With this mission in mind Babycoo has sourced garments from brands that fit into their ideology.Although the clothes needed to be ethical and organic Richard & Kathryn didn’t want to lose out on style. The whole range on Babycoo is quirky and bright. But most importantly they are all from Fairtrade producers.

The Review:

Now I have to say that I love dressing my kids. It really is one of my favourite things to do. I love finding quirky items off the high street. I also love organic cotton and funky prints. It seemed to me that Babycoo and I were a match made in heaven! So a few emails later and Richard was winging me over some of their great items. I was pretty excited, even more so when the package arrived!

All the items were by a brand called Maxomorra, who I had not heard of previously. I was really impressed at how soft all the items were. They also felt like they had quite a lot of stretch to them as well.

I have to say the piggy dress I had been coveting in my first post about Babycoo lived up to my expectations. This little dress is so cool. The print is fantastic and I can’t wait for Pudding to grow into it!

The flower print pinafore dress is really retro. The print is bright and the colours suit Pudding down to the ground. I am currently hunting out an appropriately headband to go with it! I think she liked how soft it felt against her skin. She certainly seemed comfy in it. I also have to say she got loads of compliments when we went out for coffee.

Little Fashionista, I am going to have to up my own game before long.

Last but definitely not least was this cute printed bib. Oh my. I thought the clothes were soft. But the backing on this bib is super-soft. In all honesty its kind of too nice to drop stuff all over. However, as you can see from the pictures Pudding has managed to cover it! Well for all of you out there wondering how well these items wash…. I can tell you they wash great 🙂

If you are looking for some fantastic, funky and eco-friendly brands then we totally recommend Babycoo. They have a great ethos combined with some great items. What more could a mum want?

Love Babycoo?

Top 5 Rocking Rompers

We have been out searching the web again. Whilst praying for some sunshine! To bring you our top 5 high street rompers this week. Loads of sales on in the high street right now so a great chance to grab a little bargain or two…

We love rompers at Pudding HQ. They are so easy for little ones to move about in. Cool and comfy all at the same time. But that doesn’t mean they have to lack in style! Our top 5 rompers are mixing cute with classy.

This simple spot print from Pyolarn O Pret is very chic. Not over done just very classy. Perfect for those exclusive garden parties. If we ever get the weather!

Beautifully stylish for little gentlemen. Great pattern and super smart with that collar. This one is from John Lewis (and it’s currently in their sale!) Would look great with a little pair of deck shoes to finish off the look.

Love the gorgeous elephant print on this romper. Designed by Mantaray and sold at Debenhams. Makes me think of warm African evenings and sundowners…

This would brighten up any baby boy! Fab bright print from Ted Baker, really funky. Like the collar and buttons, adds a touch of class. This one is i the sale at Debenhams to pop over to snap up a bargain.

The final romper is from George at Asda. For just over £8 this is a bargain. Stylish and sophisticated. Nice little touch with the bows and pockets. Would look great with a well co-ordinated dribble bib.

Enjoyed this selection? Check out our other Fashionista Pudding posts for more baby fashions.

Our Top 3 Baby Boutique’s June

I am a self confessed baby clothes snob! I love finding new boutique-type places to buy things for Pudding. Not that I won’t hit the high street for stuff, but I really enjoy finding things that most other people won’t have. SO it is a wrench sharing some of these great places with you all, but I can’t keep all the gems to myself!

This website has some amazing handmade items to offer. Everything is made in the UK, hand cut and hand stitched in super soft material. I mean it doesn’t get much more boutique than that right?

Personally I am a big fan of the leggings, especially as you can get a matching dribble bib to go with them.

But the rompers also come in some fantastic prints and I just adore the slippers! In fact there really isn’t anything I wouldn’t buy! At around £13 for a pair of handmade leggings I don’t think they are over priced either.

Ah there are some amazingly funky designs here. I love the bright colours and contrasting trims.

All items are made from organic cotton so are guaranteed to be super soft and kind next to baby’s skin. Although BabyCoo don’t make their own products they are dedicated to sourcing funky fairtrade organic items. A great selection from a bunch of brands at reasonable prices.

For me the favourite has to be this BabyPig Body Dress!

Last but certainly not least! Not a clothing boutique this time but an interior designer. These fantastic garlands are totally beautiful and would brighten up any kids room. Design child of Coral, made in the UK and sold on Etsy. If you want one of these, you need to act fast because they are selling like hotcakes.

We love the swans, but in all honesty we would be quite happy with any of them.

So there you have it our Boutique Round up for June! Got any great, quirky places you want to share? Or are you a quirky place who would like our attention? Get in touch with us x
