5 Top Tips For The Perfect Proposal Over The Festive Period

So tis the season right? The perfect time of year for popping that all important question. You want to get it right, but how is the best way to go about it? No one wants to end up like Phoebe from Friends emabarrassing themselves and their partner to be! We have been having a chat with pals at Dobell Formal Wear and together we have 5 top tips for making your proposal go without a glitch!

Making your Proposal Perfect
  1. Timing is everything! This is the most popular time of year for to propose to your other half. With almost 37% of folks proposing on New Years eve. What could be more romantic than getting down on one knee as the clock strikes midnight?

  2. Location, Location, Location – Of course you can make your proposal anywhere, somewhere significant to you and your other half is beautifully romantic. The most common place to pop that question is in a restaurant, with nearly a quarter of proposals happening over candle lit dinners. Looking for something a bit more exciting? Top landmarks are the next most popular engagement destinations.
  3. Look the part. Oh yes guys this is a big one! According to Dobell Formal Wear the most popular outfit choice is a blue suit, white shirt and tie. The lovely ladies will find you hard to resist in such an ensemble. Planning is everything don’t get caught out in your old jeans!
  4. Down on one knee? Well this is a tradition that seems to be fading fast. We can only imagine its due to the expense spent on the proposal outfit. Only 32% of men plan to get down on one knee to propose to their other half this year.
  5. Ring a ding ding: Tradition used to state that the engagement ring should be 3 months salary. In these modern times only 7% of guys follow this tradition whilst nearly a third say they buy the ring that they like, within their price range.

Got everything planned but that perfect outfit? Don’t panic Dobell Formal Wear have exactly what you need. The 21st of December is the busiest day of the year for buying that all important proposal outfit. I bet you didn’t know that enough ties will be brought to stretch from Edinburgh to Big Ben!

Danish Style with Jannet Samanta Dobson

We love boutique style here at Petite Pudding and with a cute little model to try them on we were delighted when Jannet Samanta Dobson contacted us about a review. Jannet is based in Denmark and her gorgeous clothes are designed to have style and substance. Every item is sourced from sustainable contractors, helping our children to future proof the environment.

Of course the ethos behind the brand is brilliant, but the clothes speak for themselves. Jannet has some gorgeous designs, here are a few of our favourites:

We were lucky to receive a gorgeous top and bottoms set to review from JDS. I love the Peter Pan style collar and the material is so soft and warm. Think you can tell that Pudding approved.

I was also very impressed with the overall quality of the product. Well sewn and thoughtfully designed to give maximum style and comfort. The trousers adjust at the waist which for us is great because Pudding is quite petite.

The colour combination is gorgeous – although we do struggle with lighter colours here as Pudding is a dirt magnet! Luckily the clothes from JDS are machine washable and they maintain their softness and shape after washing.

Overall we were delighted with Jannet Samanta Dobson’s range and we loved the opportunity to review he designs. Thoroughly recommend these wonderful clothes. JDS ship worldwide so what are you waiting for? You can view the full range here.

Boutiques in Focus – July

You just can’t beat finding that special something for your little one. The hight street stores have some great items but if you want something special there are some fantastic places online. So following on from our June boutique round-up I have decided to make a monthly boutique-feature! There are so many fantastic boutiques run by mumpreneurs out there it would be a crime not to highlight our favourites. I wish I had loads of money to frequent all of them, but this month I have again picked three that I just love.

Love Roo

Oh my who doesn’t love tiny baby shoes? What could be better than funky, handmade baby shoes! Love Roo was created by Aimee after her first child and all her shoes are handmade by her. What a clever Mama. These little shoes with tiny arrows on are my personal favourite.

IMG_2272

They are good to go with almost any outfit. But the turquoise panda shoes are a definite statement and I love those too.

IMG_2271

At around £14 a pair and sizes up to 24 months they won’t break the bank either!

Fox and The Bear

Handmade and cute! This sums up the fabulous range from Fox and The Bear. A fabulous boutique store owned and sewn by mum Samantha. The fabrics of the designs are great, I love the patterns and colours. These little leggings covered in clouds are bright and cheerful for those rainy days.

IMG_2268

But for me I love the accessories, headbands and bibs can really make an outfit. This headband with clouds to match those fabulous leggings is my absolute favourite.

IMG_2270

The bandana bib with elephants it also a personal fave!

IMG_2269

Starting at £5 for a bib or headband and around £12 for a pair of leggings, you can’t ask fairer than that for quality handmade garments.

Mini Maison

Looking for some different items for your child’s nursery? Look no further! Mini Maison has a great range of products that you see online but can never seem to find. Whether it’s a funky nightlight like this:

Or some great alternative Milestone Cards.

Personally I have my eyes on the DIY lightbox!

Definitely worth checking out the whole range, loads of quirky items to brighten up any small persons room.

So that is the July round-up – hope you like our choices! Have you got any suggestions? Or are you a boutique who would like to be featured? Let us know!

Top 5 Rocking Rompers

We have been out searching the web again. Whilst praying for some sunshine! To bring you our top 5 high street rompers this week. Loads of sales on in the high street right now so a great chance to grab a little bargain or two…

We love rompers at Pudding HQ. They are so easy for little ones to move about in. Cool and comfy all at the same time. But that doesn’t mean they have to lack in style! Our top 5 rompers are mixing cute with classy.

Rompers
This simple spot print from Pyolarn O Pret is very chic. Not over done just very classy. Perfect for those exclusive garden parties. If we ever get the weather!

Rompers
Beautifully stylish for little gentlemen. Great pattern and super smart with that collar. This one is from John Lewis (and it’s currently in their sale!) Would look great with a little pair of deck shoes to finish off the look.

Love the gorgeous elephant print on this romper. Designed by Mantaray and sold at Debenhams. Makes me think of warm African evenings and sundowners…

This would brighten up any baby boy! Fab bright print from Ted Baker, really funky. Like the collar and buttons, adds a touch of class. This one is i the sale at Debenhams to pop over to snap up a bargain.

The final romper is from George at Asda. For just over £8 this is a bargain. Stylish and sophisticated. Nice little touch with the bows and pockets. Would look great with a well co-ordinated dribble bib.

Enjoyed this selection? Check out our other Fashionista Pudding posts for more baby fashions.

Our Top 3 Baby Boutique’s June

I am a self confessed baby clothes snob! I love finding new boutique-type places to buy things for Pudding. Not that I won’t hit the high street for stuff, but I really enjoy finding things that most other people won’t have. SO it is a wrench sharing some of these great places with you all, but I can’t keep all the gems to myself!

SewKuddly.co.uk

This website has some amazing handmade items to offer. Everything is made in the UK, hand cut and hand stitched in super soft material. I mean it doesn’t get much more boutique than that right?

Personally I am a big fan of the leggings, especially as you can get a matching dribble bib to go with them.

But the rompers also come in some fantastic prints and I just adore the slippers! In fact there really isn’t anything I wouldn’t buy! At around £13 for a pair of handmade leggings I don’t think they are over priced either.

BabyCoo.co.uk

Ah there are some amazingly funky designs here. I love the bright colours and contrasting trims.

All items are made from organic cotton so are guaranteed to be super soft and kind next to baby’s skin. Although BabyCoo don’t make their own products they are dedicated to sourcing funky fairtrade organic items. A great selection from a bunch of brands at reasonable prices.

For me the favourite has to be this BabyPig Body Dress!

VelveteenBabies.com

Last but certainly not least! Not a clothing boutique this time but an interior designer. These fantastic garlands are totally beautiful and would brighten up any kids room. Design child of Coral, made in the UK and sold on Etsy. If you want one of these, you need to act fast because they are selling like hotcakes.

We love the swans, but in all honesty we would be quite happy with any of them.

So there you have it our Boutique Round up for June! Got any great, quirky places you want to share? Or are you a quirky place who would like our attention? Get in touch with us x

Our Top 5 Summer Dresses for Little Puddings

Now I don’t want to jinx anything and don’t tell anyone it was me… But I think Summer may be here (well kind of)! While everyone is snoozing on this Sunday morning I have been having a sneaky peak at Boden Online and have picked my top 5 dresses for little Puddings!

Love this simple little shift dress. It looks cool and comfy. How cute are those ducks and such a lovely summer colour. Perfect to match with a straw hat and some sandels.

Boden proves it doesn’t always have to be pink for girls! This gorgeous polka dot number is so cute. Love the matching knickers and appliqué rabbit. Just need to add a floppy hat and you are ready for an ice cream in the park.

I think the print on this little t-shirt dress is awesome. Really bright and funky without being to in your face. Again the matching knickers add a little something special. The dress looks comfy for younger babies who aren’t moving about too much, but lounging on picnic rugs.

Boden have hit the mark with this bright and fun Summer print. This dress is so cute; the scalloped neck details and waist binding make it a gorgeous option for garden parties and BBQs.

The classic pinstripe and simplistic daisy detail on this little pinafore are classy and cute. Bringing a touch of retro to the sunshine. For those colder summer days why not team with a pixie collared vest?

Hope you like our choices – we would love to know what you think.

These are our own choices and we are not affiliated with Boden. All of these items can be found online at Boden.co.uk.
